Nevada Meteorite Picture of the Day

Name of Nevada Meteorite: Provisional Name has been APPROVED - proposed name has already been submitted to the Nomenclature Committee for a NomComm-approved provisional name.

Explanation:

This such a neat perspective of an in-situ meteorite find that I couldn't resist posting it to the NevMetPOD. Since this is a recent find and it hasn't been cut, yet, (let alone analyzed) it would be just sheer speculation to guess at this meteorites probable classification, other than to say that it is a 14.1 gram weathered, ordinary chondrite. In the immediate area where this stone was found there were other L-chondrites previously recovered.

Being a recent find, there is very little additional information that can be shared at this time.
